Transition Year students in The King’s Hospital are also encouraged to become involved in charity work for organisations during Transition Year. Selected charities include Aware, The Rape Crisis Centre and Daffodil Day for the Irish Cancer Society.
The King’s Hospital students also contribute to fund-raising and play an integral role each year in the Stewart’s Hospital Flag Day to raise money for this local institution in Palmerstown.
With such involvement, pupils gain a wider understanding of the needs of others in society and how best to assist those less fortunate than themselves, thus building an important empathy with the needs of others.
