Rowing is a prominent sport in the school and both boys and girls participate, in both winter and summer, using the nearby facilities at Islandbridge. At present the emphasis is on single and double sculls and Novice 4 teams, with great success in recent times. Earlier this year, one of our 6th year students, Maile Wedgwood, won the Junior Girls Dublin Skulling ladder which was a great achievement.

Oarsmen and women compete in local and national events, and then onto the international stage. Over the last few years competitors from The King's Hospital competed in the Lagan Head of the River, Neptune Regatta, Commercial Regatta, Queen's Regatta, Trinity Regatta, Carlow Regatta, Dublin Metropolitian Regatta and the Ghent International Regatta. The school is frequently represented at the Irish Championships during the summer holidays.

The aim is to continue the active participation of students in this most disciplined of sports and to continue to make our mark at the highest level both nationally and internationally. Our coaching group is very good, and the interest from students in rowing is growing year after year.
