Storm Lorenzo

Thu 3rd Oct 2019

Dear Parent, Guardian and Colleague

We are remaining vigilant and keeping ourselves appraised of updates from the authorities on the tracking of Storm Lorenzo. There are currently no indicators that Storm Lorenzo will necessitate school closures on the east coast.

In a statement from the Department of Education & Skills dated October 2nd, https://www.education.ie/en/alerts/important-notice.html ‘schools are empowered to make closure decisions in the interest of safety for the entire school community…..if it is prudent to do so.’

If the situation deteriorates, we will update the home page of our website immediately and post on our FB, Twitter & Instagram accounts. No student or staff member will be expected to embark on a journey to school if it is unsafe to do so. Please email absence@thekingshospital.ie if your son/daughter will not be in school.

As always, in the event of inclement weather, the school remains open to our boarders, who will be well looked after by our staff who live on campus, and our catering team, Sodexo.
