TY play come 3rd in National Transition Year Festival

Tue 7th Mar 2017

Each year our TY students  have the option of competing in the National Transition Year Drama Festival in the Briery Gap Macroom. Participation in the Drama festival encourages students to develop an appreciation for the performing arts while they discover their own individual creative gifts and strengths. They have an opportunity to be adventurous in all aspects and disciplines of drama and stage performance, i.e. organising, acting, lighting, set design, costuming, make-up and most of all, team work.

In keeping with the philosophy of TY and Secondary School programming these festivals are a learning-led rather than exam-driven venture.

This year we won third prize with our portrayal of “Home” written by the students themselves.

28 students are involved in all aspects and disciplines of drama and stage performance, i.e. organising, acting, lighting, set design, costuming, make-up and most of all team work.
