What a fantastic set of results from our Class of 2018!
It was lovely to welcome all our students back yesterday although it is always a day of mixed emotions. Most of the students were delighted with their results and are confident that Monday's CAO offers will bring even more great news.
128 students sat the Leaving Cert this year - 58 boarders and 70 day students.
Six students obtained 600 points +. Congratulation to Kate O'Malley who achieved 6 H1's and a H2. There were 22 students that scored over 550 points.
We were delighted to see the students score a total of 280 H1 & H2's, way above the national average. Across the 26 subjects that were taken at higher level, an average of 70% of students received a grade of H1, 2 or 3 with an average of 45% receiving a grade of H1 or H2. A very large number of students sat the Higher level Maths paper, all of whom were successful. Over half the year group recevied a H1, 2 or 3 across all higher level subjects, impressive!
We would like to give a special mention to Jan Nelson, our SEN coordinator and her team of amazing staff who once again helped to bring tears of joy to the faces of students (and their parents), who have realised their dreams of attending a University of their choice.
We are so thrilled for the entire Class of 2018 who reached their potential, not just for the time spent on their studies but for all the hours of dedication they have given to their Sport, Music, Drama, Debating, and all the other activities that have made them who they are today, and continue to make us proud.
Students who wish to have a paper viewed or rechecked must get in touch with the school immediately and this takes place the evening of Aug 31st and the morning of Sep 1st. The NPCpp Helpline which offers lots of practical advice is available at http://www.npcpp.ie/leaving-cert-helpline.
Look foward to seeing you all in your finery on Debs night!
